Audi just gave wagon fans everything they wanted.
The Audi A6 Avant has long been a favorite among wagon fans, for its practicality and performance potential. The Audi RS6 Avant, for example, produces nearly 600 horsepower and climbs to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds, all while having uncompromising luggage space and family hauling capability, and the tradition of sporty Audi wagons can be traced all the way back to the RS2 Avant in the 1990s.

Now, the latest Audi Avant to join the group is the Audi A6 Avant e-tron Concept, a gorgeous A6 wagon like all A6 Avants, except this time, it’s fully electric. It takes after the A6 Sportback e-tron Concept, using the same dimensions and transforming them into a wagon body style. Its clean, sleek looks are classically Audi, while touches of futurism suggest changes in the design language of new Audi cars going forward.
Rather than simply electrifying the Avant, Audi set out to make the A6 Avant e-tron Concept an amazing Audi, an amazing luxury wagon, and an amazing electric vehicle. This was done by making the maximum range up to 435 miles, giving the car the capability to charge to 186 miles of range in as little as 10 minutes, fitting beautiful 22-inch wheels, and getting the 0-60 time to be as little as under 4 seconds. The most important innovation, however, is the fact that the A6 e-tron family comes on a new platform, developed in conjunction with Porsche: the Premium Platform Electric, or PPE. From the bottom up, cars on this platform are designed to be electric, luxurious, and capable to perform. With this new platform, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron and A6 e-tron Sportback Concepts are just the beginning of a whole new era of luxury electric vehicles.
